SLO® Prefects Lunch
In a very pleasant atmosphere, ISC-Erbil’s Student Life Organization appointed its heads, deputies, and senior prefects who are tasked to run the empowering student-led society for the 2011-12 academic year. In honor of the occasion, a celebration was organized on Saturday, September 24, 2011, and involved the new prefects and the ISC-Erbil School Director, Dr. Humaira Bokhari, former Student Life Coordinator (SLC), Ms. Rawiya Mahmoud, new SLC, Ms. Maya Abou Mattar as well as SABIS® Representative in Kurdistan, Mr. Raed Mahmoud.
Held in the school’s cafeteria, the ceremony began with a barbeque that was personally arranged by Dr. Bokhari and Mr. Mahmoud to honor the students. During the lunch, the prefects had a chance to get to know one another better and meet Ms. Abou Mattar, the school’s new SLC.
Following the lunch, prefects received their pins and job descriptions and had an opportunity to hold their first official SLO® meeting in order to determine their yearly plan and to brainstorm ideas for the forthcoming year.
All student participants expressed their delight to be part of the SLO® team, shared ideas, and enjoyed their time over the delicious lunch. The ceremony was concluded by a group photo of the whole team, along with Dr. Bokhari, Ms. Abou Mattar, and Ms. Mahmoud.
All ISC-Erbil students are encouraged to join the Student Life Organization and to take an active part in their education, academic and non-academic. By working in co-operation with, and complementing the efforts of, the administration and academic staff, prefects add even more value to themselves. Prefects help to raise the general standard all around them, promote high social and moral values, and encourage participation in a wide range of additional activities and sports.
