ISC-Erbil Library Swamped with Readers during Winter Break

The ISC-Erbil library was warmed by the presence of many students from grades 5, 6, and 7 during the recent winter break.  Students were excited to have access to books in a variety of genres and many spent entire days reading. Some students read the same story several times, while others read as many as 15 books during the 15 day break.

Following the Accelerated Reader® Program, students took a quiz after having read each book to check their comprehension level.

“It was amazing to see emergent readers improve their reading levels over the break,” said ISC-Erbil School Director, Dr. Humaira Bokhari.  “This proves how vital the Accelerated Reader® Program is to the development of students’ reading skills.”

The Accelerated Reader® program was established in the U.S. to help students develop a love of reading.  The program tests students’ level of reading comprehension and helps put them on a pace of continual improvement.
